Market Access Coordinator – One Acre Fund (Tanzania)

About One Acre Fund

One Acre Fund was founded in 2006 with a simple but powerful mission: to support Africa’s smallholder farmers in achieving lasting prosperity. Today, the organization serves 5.5 million farmers across 9 countries who collectively represent two-thirds of Africa’s farming population.

By providing farmers with quality agricultural inputs, tree seedlings, access to credit, and modern agronomic training, One Acre Fund enables farmers to grow more food, build stronger incomes, and strengthen their resilience to challenges such as climate change. On average, participating farmers see their incomes grow by 35% or more per year, while also building long-term assets and food security.

Behind this impact is a team of 9,000+ staff working on the ground across rural Africa. The organization is driven by its values of service, inclusivity, and innovation — and it is now inviting passionate Tanzanian professionals to join its team as Market Access Coordinators.

About the Role

As a Market Access Coordinator, you will play a critical role in helping farmers turn their harvest into reliable income. This position is based in Iringa, Singida, and Mtwara regions of Tanzania, and focuses on ensuring that smallholder farmers — especially youth and women — can successfully access markets for their crops.

Working closely with regional teams and under the guidance of senior management, you will oversee crop aggregation, monitor quality control, and use market data to guide sales strategies. Beyond operations, you will also act as a trainer and facilitator, equipping farmers with the skills and knowledge they need to sell their crops profitably.

This is a 6-month contract position, with a preferred start date of as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate Market Access Activities: Implement strategies developed by senior management to connect farmers to markets, ensuring effective crop aggregation and smooth operations.

  • Ensure Quality Standards: Monitor and maintain the quality of crops being aggregated for sale, ensuring they meet buyer and market expectations.

  • Farmer Training and Support: Work with smallholder farmers — with a focus on empowering youth and women — to strengthen their understanding of market access strategies.

  • Market Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret market data to guide decision-making and improve crop sales.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including buyers, local stakeholders, and farmer groups.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Support the preparation of materials such as value propositions, market access dossiers, and reports that demonstrate impact and opportunities.

Qualifications

We’re seeking candidates with a combination of technical knowledge, practical experience, and strong interpersonal skills. Specifically, you will bring:

  • Experience: At least 1+ years of work experience in market access, agribusiness, healthcare, or a related field.

  • Knowledge: A good understanding of market trends and regulatory environments, particularly in agriculture and trade.

  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with strong analytical and communication skills.

  • Tools: Familiarity with market access tools/databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Elsevier) is an advantage.

  • Eligibility: This position is open only to Tanzanian citizens or permanent residents.

Career Growth and Development

One Acre Fund is deeply committed to the professional growth of its staff. As a Market Access Coordinator, you can expect:

  • Mentorship and Feedback: Weekly check-ins with your manager, along with mentorship opportunities and regular feedback on performance.

  • Training: Access to tailored training programs to strengthen your technical and leadership skills.

  • Career Reviews: Structured career reviews every six months to help shape your long-term growth within the organization.

  • Opportunity for Impact: The chance to shape a growing program and create measurable impact for smallholder farmers in Tanzania.
